Real Good Fish offers weekly distributions of sustainably caught local seafood.  In order for you to gain the most from your Real Good Fish community supported fishery (CSF) experience, please read the following document carefully as it outlines the policies that keep our CSF working smoothly for all of our members.

Pricing
Small shares are $22 each delivery and will feed 2-3 people (between 1-1.5 lbs of fillet fish depending on species). Each OptOut selection you make is an additional $1 per delivery for the duration of your subscription, or until you decide you no longer want to Opt Out of that particular category. The additional cost pays for the ability to provide you with an alternative species.

About Our Fish
All seafood will be sourced from the CA Central Coast whenever possible depending on weather, regulation, and ocean conditions.

Processing
Finfish species (black cod, salmon, rockfish, etc.) will generally be filleted.  If you select the option for whole fish shares averages 3-4 pounds, when whole fish are available. Sanddabs are provided “pan ready” with no head, guts or fins, for optimal flavor and quantity/quality. We cannot guarantee that fillets will be free of bones!  For seafood other than finfish (oysters, sardines, squid, etc.), the share you receive may be delivered whole or minimally processed (removal of head and guts).  Don’t worry, we will provide instructions on what to do!

Availability
Real Good Fish cannot guarantee the delivery of specific seafood products at specific times in specific quantities.  If weather or other conditions prevent our fishermen suppliers from catching marketable product, Real Good Fish will notify you and either a) we will provide you with a fresh-frozen alternative or b) your account will be credited for the value of the weekly share.

 

Member Responsibilities

Pick-Up
As a CSF member, I understand it is my responsibility to pick up my weekly share of seafood from my chosen pickup location during the designated time frame.  Real Good Fish does not coordinate nor allow after hours pickups.  I understand that if I do not pick up my share within the distribution time frame, it will be donated to an interested party or facility.  Here are the options if you can’t pick-up:

  • Donate my share to the site host – requires no action from you.
  • Make arrangements to have someone pick up my share and check off my name on the sign-in sheet. Your share also makes a fantastic gift!
  • Contact us by phone or email at least 4 days in advance of a pick-up date (e.g. a vacation) when you know you will not be able to use your share.  Please provide us with exact dates and be sure to tell us whose name the account is under.  We will place your account on “hold,” and your funds will not be deducted from your account balance for the weeks that you cannot pick up.

Getting Your Fish Home
We will provide you with an insulated cooler bag at the time you first join the CSF.  Please bring the bag with you to the pickup site each week.  Your share of fish will be packed in a larger cooler, and you will transfer it to your cooler bag at the time of pick-up. You are responsible for all seafood after picking it up!  Fish needs to stay chilled until you are ready to eat it.  Real Good Fish cannot be responsible for product that was inadequately stored following pickup.

 


Payments
Real Good Fish uses a web-based software program called Farmigo to process and manage our shares. On Farmigo you will create a unique account, be able to track and make payments, and modify your subscription in a few easy steps!  Our CSF operates year-round, and shares can be purchased at any time.  When you make a purchase, you commit to buying 4, 8, 12, 26, 52 deliveries of shares at that time.  We do this for consistency – we need to know how many shareholders to fish for. 

Payment Types
We accept payment via ACH / electronic check (our preferred method), credit cards, and personal checks.  For orders by check, the order still must be completed via the Farmigo website.  Checks should then be mailed to Real Good Fish, PO Box 51191, Pacific Grove, CA, 93950.  If you choose to pay by check, please indicate in the "memo" section of the check the name under whom the CSF account is listed.

Automatic Payments
Our online ordering platform will enroll you in automatic payments by default.  You will automatically be charged whenever your account level reaches $0.   For example, if you initially pay for 4 deliveries, you will be charged for another 4 deliveries after the first 4 deliveries. This will ensure that your account is paid in a timely fashion so that you never miss a delivery.  It is the member's responsibility to manage this feature in their Farmigo account.

Manual Payment
If you prefer, you will have the option to make renewal payments manually by ___.  If you choose this option, you will receive an email letting you know when it's time to renew your balance.

Upon signing up, a confirmation of your account and pickup location details and start date will be automatically emailed to you.  New accounts will be placed on hold for 4 days. This gives us time to process your account. You will receive your box on the closest delivery date for your designated host site after the 4-day hold. As a CSF member, I agree to pay my account in a timely manner and keep my membership account information up to date.

Updating Your Farmigo Account
You can change your subscription at any time on Farmigo, but you must give us seven days notice before the changes take effect.  You will receive an email confirmation confirming the change.

Communications
Real Good Fish CSF communicates with its members mainly through email and blogging which includes information on the fish, recipes, tips for handling seafood items, fishermen profiles, policy or schedule changes, and the like.

As a CSF member, I understand that it is my responsibility to open and read the emails (including payment notices) so that I stay informed. If my email address or any other contact information changes, I will contact member@realgoodfish.com or (831) 345-5153.

Suspension of Service
Your fish box will not be delivered if you do not have money in your account to cover the price of the box.  If we don't receive a timely payment from you, you will receive an email letting you know that your service has been suspended.  If you make a payment after this time, you need to wait for email notification of your next delivery.   Restarting is as easy as joining – just follow the same link.  Restarting your fish box delivery often takes seven days, as the lists are made in advance, so don't expect a fish box that week unless you get an email saying it will be there.  If you do not get a box, there will be no charge for delivery that week.

Cancellation
The purchase of Real Good Fish shares involves a commitment to the fishing season, and shares are non-refundable.  If you believe you have a special circumstance that prevents you from fulfilling your commitment, please contact us at member@realgoodfish.com or (831) 345-5153.  Decisions regarding refunds will be made on an individual basis.
